Melissa, Hannah, Joshua, Amanda, and Whitney.
Hi, my name is Melissa, and I was born and raised in South Eastern Iowa. I am currently 17 years old and just finished up my junior year of high school. I enjoy spending my free time playing the ukulele, reading, participating in the local theater, and getting involved in my church any way that I can. I am very passionate about ministry, specifically when it is geared towards young children. I have had the fortune of being able to hone these skills by nannying four young sisters over the past three years. Though I'm not completely clear on what role I will play in the mission field, that is where I feel I am being called to go after high school.
Welcome to our little space, I'm Hannah! After graduating high school in 2014 I began nannying for a wonderful family with 3 precious kids. When I'm not chasing a toddler, tickling a 3 year old or coloring with a Pre-Ker, you can find me teaching a Jr. High small group at my church, loving on my treasured family of 5, completing Perspectives homework or preparing for South Africa. Recently the Lord has been revealing to me the purpose for my entire life; to bring Him glory and praise by obeying Him in His call to love Him and His entire creation in order to bring His Kingdom. This trip is a catalyst for the plans I have to obediently follow wherever my Savior's hand guides me. He must increase, but I must decrease - John 3:30. Adventure right along with us as we travel to South Africa!
Hi, I'm Josh. I really love computer science and physics, and plan on attending the University of Iowa for electrical engineering/computer science this fall. While I love those things, I really want to do something with my life that will have eternal meaning. Hopefully this is the beginning of a life of service. I would love to be an occupational missionary or lead a men's ministry when I graduate college.
Hiya! I'm Amanda and I am going into my senior year at the University of Iowa. One of the best seasons of my life came when I took a class called Perspectives for the first time in sixth grade. The course gave me a more clear vision of what John describes in Revelation 7:9: that one day people from every ethne will stand around His throne and give all glory to Him. I am so excited to get a taste of that this summer in South Africa.
Hi, my name is Whitney. I am 17 and just finished my senior year of high school. In my spare time I like to play my ukulele, read and spend quality time with my family and friends. I work part time at my family's business, Kalona Chocolates. I enjoy being around and caring for children. The last several years I have been able to babysit the children of three different families regularly. My future plans after I return from Africa are undecided. I trust that God will show me the way as I go.
